Muskan, a dedicated member of Rag Dreams Weavers Association(NGO), is a shining example of resilience, leadership and compassion which makes her one of the most suitable candidates for the Vidyakiran award. With English as her favourite subject and a dream of becoming a teacher, she has already taken significant steps toward transforming lives by educating street- connected children and guiding them towards a better future.
Her journey with Rag Dreams Weavers began in 2020, when she connected with her mentors there. Since then, she has helped more than 30 children access education and support. In January 2024, she took on the role of a leader, conducting daily classes for children aged 3 to 15 who faced similar struggles as she once did. She also works tirelessly to expand the NGO’s outreach by engaging with parents and communities, identifying barriers to education and collecting data to help bring more children into learning spaces.
Beyond teaching, Muskan takes on multiple responsibilities in her own life. Alongside her studies, she works in households, prepares meals and manages her own home, all while nurturing her passion for art and crafts. She taught herself to sew, create pillow covers, lanterns, flower pots and even build “Chulha” (Sand stoves).
Her perseverance, leadership and self-taught skills set her apart. Muskan doesn’t dream, she acts. She turns hardships into opportunities and leads by example, inspiring those around her.
This Vidyakiran Award not only stands as a testament to Muskan’s dedication but also represents the resilience of the entire community of children who look up to her. Her journey embodies the power of perseverance, hope, and education.
